Kristie Nakasato LAc

Fellow of ABORM, The Acupuncture and TCM Board of Reproductive Medicine, 2016
Kristine (Kristie) Nakasato is an Oregon licensed and nationally certified acupuncturist and herbalist with over 10 years of experience.
Before moving to Oregon, Kristie was the founder of a thriving acupuncture practice in Hilo, Hawai’i. She has successfully addressed pain conditions such as foot neuropathy, low back pain, shoulder pain, neck pain, migraines, and other musculoskeletal pain conditions whether acute, chronic, or complicated by autoimmune disease. Kristie’s other areas of focus include the side effects of chemotherapy and radiation, stress and mood/mental disorders, metabolic disorders such as type 1 diabetes, male and female infertility, pregnancy health, and women’s health.
In 2004 I started working as an intern at Dr. Angela Wu’s San Francisco acupuncture clinic. Dr. Wu and her senior staff were dedicated to training me and the other interns in the principles of qi and blood, and yin and yang, as well as the practice-based treatments of massage, cupping, and the warming therapy of moxibustion. I wanted to get into healthcare and while I was working for Dr. Wu I was also working as a medical assistant for a Western (allopathic) clinic. In the end I was drawn much more towards the holistic and natural path that Traditional Eastern Medicine offered, and I made the leap into a four year Master’s program, which was the stepping stone to becoming a licensed acupuncturist.
After I became licensed, I worked for two San Francisco Bay Area clinics that specialized in fertility and pain management. I focused on training in those two areas, and because of the fertility focus, I became a Fellow of ABORM- The Acupuncture and Traditional Chinese Medicine Board of Reproductive Medicine in 2016. It was a great privilege to help individuals and couples become parents, whether there was an initial diagnosis of male factor infertility, PCOS, a low ovarian reserve, or even unexplained infertility.
When I moved back to my home island of Hawai’i in 2018, I soon realized that I was seeing a bigger variety of conditions. I began studying new ways to treat pain using sports medicine and gentle Japanese palpation techniques. I also realized that I liked to treat a variety of people with a variety of conditions and my week typically would include treating those over the age of 85, as well as teenagers or young adults, and everyone in between.
I feel extremely grateful for my teachers who have guided me on the path to be an acupuncturist. I continue to be inspired by patients who show up just as they are, and allow me to assist in their journey to better health and vitality.
Originally from the Big Island of Hawai’i, I have lived in South America, Japan, and India. I’m currently studying Spanish and a little Tibetan. I love to spend time outdoors with my family, continue to learn more about traditional medicine and acupuncture (it is on-going!), and go on meditation retreats.

Patient Care Coordinator

As a patient care coordinator here at Willow Tree Acupuncture, it’s fulfilling for me to be a part of a meaningful purpose. I love that we are a local, woman-owned small business working closely with communities I identify with (women, BIPOC, LGBTQIA+) and I’m passionate about building community and forming relationships with everyone who steps through our door. I enjoy cheering on our patients and approaching every interaction with warmth, compassion, and curiosity.
Having worked in the service and hospitality industries for almost a decade, I value the patient experience and making folks feel special. Every person is unique. I believe that every chance to connect is an opportunity to brighten someone’s day by making their experience better through personal touches or just being kind.
My partner and I moved here from the Baltimore/DC area in 2021. When I’m not at work, you can find me playing with our two cats, Rinzler and Zelda, visiting cafes around town, checking out live music, or planning my next hike! I also enjoy cooking and baking for clients and friends, and I often make decorated cakes and sweets for their special occasions.
