As is the case with many Chinese Medicine practitioners, my passion for natural healing therapies came from my personal experience with this amazing traditional medicine. As a teenager, I had terrible stomach pain from the stress of an intense high school along with typical teenage existential angst. None of the labs, medications or dietary changes helped. I just felt worse, so I went out to find another solution for myself - and my parents were pretty skeptical with my choice of finding an acupuncturist but they knew I needed a different approach. After an initial series of acupuncture treatments, I felt so much better with each appointment and became completely intrigued by acupuncture and Chinese Medicine.

From that point on I continued to incorporate acupuncture and herbs into my health care routines with conventional doctors. In fact, I came to find out that East Asian Medicine was far more effective at supporting my family's general health and kept us out of the western doctor's office unless there was an emergency. I grew up in a family of doctors and nurses with a lot of medical talk (and way too many educational pictures of injuries) so I knew that I wanted to go into medicine early on. It was clear that I was on a more holistic path, wanting to provide natural health solutions for people of all ages that would keep people healthy rather than administering sick care.

My mission is to coach each patient with knowledge about their body's natural abilities to heal with easy to do tweaks to diet and lifestyle, stress management and correcting nutritional deficits. Like a medical detective, each patient is a constellation of symptoms that fall into Chinese Medicine's diagnosis pattern that sees the symptoms relating to a common root cause. Treating the root of health issues instead of chasing symptoms can offer sustainable transformation back to a balanced state of health and well being.

My clinical specialty is in Reproductive Medicine, with a foundation of OB/GYN health concerns for women of all ages. I love to treat teenagers looking for natural solutions to painful cramps so they can avoid an early start on hormones. I love to work with growing families who are struggling to get pregnant naturally, especially LGBT+ families who are getting creative with shared parenting methods. I love to calm the hormonal waves of menopause and show how this can be an incredibly empowering transition for women.

There are natural solutions for the challenges of hormonal fluctuations - and it is my belief that women do not need to accept suffering as a normal part of the changing phases of their reproductive lives.

I also love seeing your partners and children too!

Helping with the aches and pains that people typically think of for acupuncture are the fun and quick treatments that all of us acupuncturists better be rock stars at doing!

Along with women's health, I had the distinct privilege of interning with elite student athletes recovering from injuries with the University of California at Berkeley's Sports Medicine department.

Acupuncture immediately decreases pain and speeds up recovery time when integrated into care from sports injuries, auto accidents, surgery or repetitive stress syndromes. Acupuncture, along with other East Asian medicine modalities, offers drug free pain relief so we can get back to enjoying our busy, active lives.

My early career was film making, working with top animation and special effects studios - I had to take a quiz on Star Wars trivia for one of my jobs! I love escaping the rain in winter by sneaking off to one of Portland’s many old school theaters to catch an independent film..and any Marvel movie for a date night with my sons. Our weekends are filled with hiking and biking the PNW, foodie adventures in dining and continued studies in medical herbalism - I am totally an herb nerd!
